Trench Coats are Back

Brigitte Bardot in classic trench coat

According to the fashion world, the classic trench coat is making a comeback. This wardrobe staple was originally designed for British Army officers serving in the trenches during World War I. In the midst of the 1960s, fashion icons such as Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn gave it new life with their casual yet sophisticated take on the old standard.

Fast forward to today and its currently being heralded by fashion editors as a wardrobe essential.

Women’s Wear Daily named the trench coat a 2023 street style trend after Paris Fashion Week.

British Vogue says, “Versatile, weatherproof and always stylish, the trusty trench has officially stood the test of time.”

Popsugar calls the trench coat “The 1 Spring staple every woman should have in her closet.”

If you are fortunate enough to have one of these fashion essentials in your closet, pull it out. And if not, head to the wardrobe section at the next estate sale you visit and try your luck!
