Vintage and Antique Silver—In or Out?

Antique silver beautifully displayed by Mary Ellen Becker.

Vintage and antique silver pieces seem to be passed over at many estate sales and antique malls, but I believe there is an argument for giving them a closer look. Whether vintage or antique, sterling or plated, silver can make a statement if given the chance.

A collection of trays can add interest when hung on a wall and individual pieces work beautifully as containers transforming the mundane into something a bit more elevated.

And don’t pass by those one-off pieces—mix and match works beautifully with things like sterling napkin rings or candlesticks.

Still working on your bar cart style? Why not add in a silver cocktail shaker or ice bucket.

As always, vintage and antique pieces add character to any design, so the next time you see that stack of silver pieces at an estate sale, take a closer look and see if you can find something that can be useful—or simply beautiful.
